First Visit
This appointment will consist of a consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. On occasion, surgery can be performed the same day as the consult. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan may require additional evaluation and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day.
- Your surgical referral slip and any x-rays if applicable.
- Be sure to notify the office in advance if you have a medical condition or concern prior to surgery (e.g. artificial heart valves or joints, heart murmurs requiring premedication, severe diabetes, or hypertension.) Your medical doctor's information with regard to a complex medical history will be necessary for clearance prior to surgery.
- A list of medications you are presently taking.
- If you have dental insurance, please contact the office 1 or 2 days in advance of your appointment so that we may have everything prepared on the day of your first visit.
IMPORTANT
All patients under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for consultations and surgery.
A preoperative consultation and physical examination is mandatory for patients undergoing IV anesthesia for surgery. Wiith regard to surgery, please have nothing to eat or drink eight hours prior to your surgery and you must have an adult to drive you home.
If your general dentist has current x-rays, you may request that they be forwarded to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up on your way to your appointment. If new or additional films are necessary they can be taken at our facility.
